Where Paper Tells a Story

Hi, I'm Sara.

I'm a mixed-media artist, collage artist, and founder of Paper Arts by Sara.

I create handmade junk journals, collage art, and mixed-media pieces inspired by storytelling, creativity, and the beauty of rediscovered paper. I am drawn to vintage books, forgotten ephemera, old photographs, maps, handwritten notes, and the unexpected treasures that can be transformed into something new and meaningful.

For me, paper holds stories. Whether I'm creating a journal from a beloved children's book or layering pieces of vintage ephemera into a collage, I enjoy giving discarded materials a second life and inviting others to connect with their own creativity through the process.

My path to becoming an artist hasn't been a straight line. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Informatics with a minor in Business from Indiana University Bloomington and have spent my career in a variety of fields, including real estate, education, entrepreneurship, and the arts. I've worked as a title examiner, paralegal, ballroom dance instructor, and business owner, experiences that have shaped the way I approach both creativity and problem-solving.

In addition to my art practice, I own and operate a plant nursery where I provide plant education and community outreach. Through both my businesses, I enjoy helping people learn new skills, discover new interests, and gain confidence in their abilities.

Today, Paper Arts by Sara is the place where my love of storytelling, handmade craftsmanship, and creative exploration come together. My work celebrates the beauty of imperfection, the value of slowing down, and the joy of creating something with your own hands.

As my creative journey continues, I look forward to sharing my work through workshops, community art experiences, and a growing collection of handmade journals and mixed-media art.

Thank you for visiting. I'm glad you're here.
